Tennessee Nursing Home Sued for $13 Million By Resident’s Family

A Maryville, Tennessee nursing home has been sued for $13 million in damages by a resident’s family who claims the staff didn’t protect her from a fellow patient.

The family of Katheryn Hill claims that another patient, James Charles Strickland, tried to rape her in March 2009 while at Asbury Place.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that the lawsuit said Strickland was a convicted sex offender, but the staff did not try to separate him from other residents. Strickland died about four months after the alleged assault and he was never charged.

Asbury Place officials declined comment claiming privacy restrictions.
