13 Floridians Stripped of Driver’s Licenses Nabbed Driving Away from Court

Thirteen people who were stripped of their driver’s licenses and tried to ride away from a South Florida court didn’t get far.

Florida Highway Patrol stopped them shortly after they left the parking lot of the court in Delray Beach on Tuesday. Moments earlier, a judge told them not to leave the courtroom and drive away.

The crackdown was part of the statewide sting dubbed “Operation DL-Core.” The operation is a part of FHP’s efforts to target individuals who drive to and from court appearances despite having their licenses suspended or revoked.

Plainclothes troopers monitored court proceedings. Then they followed drivers to the parking lot and alerted uniformed troopers as each drove away. Authorities say two were arrested and each was taken to jail for an outstanding warrant violation and a habitual offender charge.
