So what happens to these guys now? I see mvrs all the time w/ 5 and 6 driving on suspended tickets back to back. It’s a joke. Obviously a simple license suspension doesn’t do the trick. Maybe a jail stay will work, but how long are they locked up? I don’t know the solution, but I wonder if maybe courts should consider impounding vehicles for these habitual offenders.

Great idea since I was T-boned by a driver that was driving on a suspended license with no insurance… Problem is overcrowding of jails for non violent offenders – its a joke.

I think the vehicle impounding penalty should be explored. Since these idiots don’t perceive any consequence to their actions, they continue to ignore the law. ANY car they’re caught driving should be impounded for 90-days. That would get their attention and that of anybody dumb enough to loan them their car. The same logic should apply to DUI’s. They can still drive without a license, but they can’t drive without a car. Personal responsibility and enforcement of laws has eroded to the point of being a joke in this country.

Good try but that won’t work either. If friends and family won’t prevent these people from driving, law won’t make any difference. And, don’t we have enough laws already. I think we have too many. peer pressure worked when we were young. I think we need to try it here.

I agree that we have enough laws already, but this one is clearly ineffective. Whatever the reason is that their license is being suspended, the punishment is not working b/c they’re still driving.

What’s your suggestion? PEER PRESSURE? Seriously? Let’s spend tax dollars to start a campaign that if you know your buddy’s license is suspended you let him know its really uncool to drive on a suspended license?

At least if the state were to impound the vehicle they were driving when they were caught, that vehicle could be resold at auction to turn some kind of profit.
