It appears from your comment that you see the true crime here is that Waddell was a PA. It is a true shame that all Public Adjusters take the heat for the actions of one individuals actions. There isn’t a profession in this world that is free of some corrupt individuals but that fact does not corrupt the profession as a whole. As an honest, licensed Public Adjuster I take offense to your comment. I would ask why do you feel justified in your position?

I agree with Cornett. There are bad apples in every profession. Many honest public adjusters like Cornett take the heat from the insurance industry when the reality is that public adjusters make up a very small percentage of the adjusting community (in every State). Also, we weren’t given all the facts – perhaps the public adjuster was holding the check to pass on to the client? It happens. Anyway, bad apples (in every profession) make for more interesting news however I’m certain that were the NC Dept to dig a little deeper they’d find that company and independent adjusters could be villified as well. We should all be on the same team anyway – making the policyholder whole again.
