If there’s a reckless driving law on the books already why add another one? Couldn’t police cite someone who tailgates, passes on the right, no signals, etc. as reckless?

I think the same applies to cell phone/texting bans… the “crime” is that someone is distracted and therefore driving recklessly… ALREADY ON THE BOOKS! If I can text and safely drive (well, personally I can’t, but for the sake of argument) who cares if I do it?

None of these redneck hillbilly states would never make”aggressive driving” a crime. This is the land of NASCAR where aggressive driving is encouraged. Southern roadways just wouldn’t be the same without them toothless good old boys racing around.

Come on Chicago B&R, …….. You can’t argue that NASCAR has its roots in the southern states. It’s part of the redneck culture to drive ggressively. Dale Earnhardt is the poster boy for aggressive driving.

NASCAR drivers are afraid to go to Chicago. You want to talk about aggressive driving.

I completely agree with Dept. of Redundancy Department, and I would add that “agressive” by itself is entirely subjective. If we were to have a law against “agressive” driving, I could argue that we should also have a law against “passive” driving (but we already do: if you sit through a green light you might be pulled over to find out if anything’s wrong with you; many highways have minimum speed limits; obstructing traffic, etc) and that somewhere in between “passive” and “agressive” is just right…and let law enforcement decide whether someone has violated some vague, undefined, open-to-interpretation “standard”. And to Ron I would ask this: if someone enjoys watching or playing hockey, would you honestly expect them to strap on their ice skates to drive or go to the mall, or something? Using Ron’s “logic” the answer would be yes, or at least probably. People bring up NASCAR, rednecks or whatever as if these points have relevance. They don’t. Dismiss Ron.

    Why pick on the south?

Hell, go to any major city, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, New York, all of the agressive and slow drivers are there. Go to the mountains of West Virginia and drive on the Turnpike or any of the interstate system on a Friday evening and just watch the idiots from Pennsylvania, New York and Ontario try to run over you at 20 MPH over the speed limit or the nuts from Ohio trying to play traffic cop in the left lane by driving 10 MPH under the speed limit and jambing up traffic for miles.

I did notice one thing on my last trip to Ohio. They drive in the right lane and not in the left. I wonder why? Maybe law enforcement there is a lot stricter and fines them for impeding the flow. I know they will stop you if you are traveling 6 MPH over the limit.

And by the way, what is wrong with NASCAR? At least it is not full of drugs like football, basketball and baseball. it is not tolerated. You get busted, you are out. There is no second chance from what I have read.
