“It destroyed six homes and did major damage to 10 others.” And this had to be confirmed by the Weather Service why?

Because there’s a small fraternity of geeks with pocket protectors who get off playing with weather maps and classifying various storms. It really doesn’t matter what caused the damage does it? And what’s with assigning a scale to tornadoes and hurricanes. They’re either severe or they’re not. It’s like being dead. Does it matter whether a person’s been dead for a minute or 3 hours?
