The chief was an idiot and the procedures were badly flawed. You don’t jeapardize lives of firefighters by trying to extinguish a blaze in a frame building and fueled by furniture. Nobody was inside and nothing would have been salvagable anyway. They should have focused on letting it burnout and protecting any adjoining properties.
