I am not a proponent of suing when the user of the product knows it is deadly and will eventually kill them. However, since society has allowed the tobacco industry to continue on their deadly rampage of killing hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens every year, then maybe the way to eliminate this deadly killer is via the judicial system, as much as I hate that method. No single product (no, not even alcohol) has cost society so much in terms of lives and dollars.

when will it end? how long does someone have to smoke and then try to suit knowing full well, it can kill you? what happened to making choices? what happend to understand that i chose do this habit? it can possibly kill me. it that not like, i am riding in my car and it can kill me if i lose control?

if i was the tobacco industry, i would advertise. the government can’t hinder business from making money. afterall, how many drugs are out there and with so many side affects, why have we not stop to sue just because i had an episode of a side affect. afterall, the doctor prescribed it to me to make me feel better not worse!

My Aunt smoked Chesterfields (unfiltered coffin sticks) for as long as they have been on the market – Would up with cancer – survived surgery and post complications – and STILL SMOKES Chesterfields – 1-2 packs a day – That is her choice – she didn’t sue anyone – she can read the warning that has been on the packages for decades – and knows the risks – She DIDN”T SUE ANYONE – She accepted (and still accepts) the consequences of her own actions

When will people get a grip – Shame on society for allowing this to continue – Jury’s are a joke – I think they sit around in a room and talk about how they would spend the money if they got it – They aren’t punshing anyone but the people in this world that are accountable for their own actions – The legal system is broken – and has been for years – There has to be a way to stop the madness…

    Any suggestions???

This continues because it makes lawyers rich. You want to stop it. Don’t let lawyers collect percentages of the verdict. Make them charge a reasonable flat rate for working a case. It would stop.
