Georgia Offers Reward for Leads in Church Arson

The state of Georgia is offering a $10,000 reward for information that will lead to an arrest and conviction in an arson case in Clarkston where a baptist church was heavily damaged last Sunday night. The blaze gutted the Indian Creek Baptist Church.

The reward offer comes from state Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John Oxendine.

A spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said DeKalb County police and fire investigators detained three people for questioning Monday, but no criminal charges were filed.

ATF spokesman Marc Jackson described the three as “persons of interest.”

Oxendine said at a news conference Monday that investigators have not determined whether 11 other fires were deliberately set.
