What they should add is that even if you aren’t involved in a deadly collision, if you are at .10%, you will also face a very vindictive “punishment” which is a means to support the cottage industry that the fines and costs for DUI generate. Many police officers are happy to participate because it’s an easy bust and a good source of overtime income. What I’d like to see is that they concentrate on the existing, known problems, not try to expand the reach of law enforcement.
Stat Guy, DUI is an existing and known problem and well within the current scope of law enforcement. Whatever your thoughts on drunk driving it is still illegal and this blitz is no different than the “Click it or ticket” campaign that most people support.
Stat Guy is probably the same anti MADD poster who speaks up any time a drunk is harrassed for driving under the influence. As the child of an alcholic I would like to see all those who think it’s ok to drive a little fuzzy lose their licenses for a while. Walking will sober them up.
