So what are they doing to get tough on the 79% of accidents where alcohol is not “involved”? Uh, nothing.

Reducing BAC to .08 only serves to increase the pool of MADD victims and fines associated with becoming a MADD victim.

Want to stop boating DUI? Stop ***** footing around with incremental fines and jail terms. If convicted, the boat should be confiscated and sold, the owner fined $1,000, and 30 days mandatory jail time. Behavior only changes when a serious consequence is perceived.

Second issue is the remaining 79% of fatal boat accidents that don’t involve DUI. Why aren’t the geniuses in W. Va going after the larger problem? Having handled hundreds of boat claims, it’s readily apparent what the causes are. Speed, drinking, inexperience, stupidity, and bad tempers. None of those are acceptable behaviors on the water. Depending on the circumstances, consequences could range from monetary fines to jail time. In eggregious situations, lifetime revocation of the boating license may be appropriate.

Wow Dread, read the article…21% INVOLVED alcohol. It’s readily apparent that 80% of the accidents have NOTHING TO DO with alcohol.

It’s interesting that you think passing more legislation will prevent accidents from happening.

Keep looking for Big Brother to guide you through life dread.

Accept the fact that accidents happen. You can not legislate them out of existence.

You seem to like more Big Brother nannyism everytime you post. The only way to prevent boating accidents is to ban all boating.

    Is that your solution?
