Bob, Thanks for your post. Why do many of the IJ articles seem to provide only enough information to inflame. No mention of 18 other babies dying of the same treatable infection at this hospital. No mention the hospital administration decided not to have the baby seen by an specialist after giving assurances that it would be seen by a specialist. Not to mention they, apparently, lied about having called an expert for an opinion. The expert said she was not called. These omissions change the whole complextion of the story. How many babies need to be sacrified before a hospital is held accountable? Why the victims so quickly judged? Why not seek more information before posting hurtful, hateful comments?

Over 1,000,000 babies are aborted every year in the US Dawn. What about their rights? Like a prior poster said, a jury by implication found that this was a human and not an “unwanted part” of the mother. I have to admit that at one point in time, I thought that abortion wass good for poor women who had no choice. Now that I look at the statistics showing that most babies who are aborted are from minority women, I have to wonder if there isn’t something a bit more sinister and racist involved here and as a Christian, wonder what Christ would think of your support of abortion Dawn.

Get your facts straight BEFORE you stick your foot in your mouth. Or else bite down hard.

As I said before, a third trimester abortion is an entirely different matter then what you’re thumping your chest/bible about.

There has to be something physically threatening to the mother or the fetus after 19 weeks. Let’s stick with the facts- if you can. A third trimester abortion is NOT because a woman ‘changes her mind’ or is ‘too poor’ to have a baby.

You want to stop it? YOU take your holier-then-thou self to the nearest abortion clinic. YOU go up to the first woman there for an abortion. YOU offer to take care of, adopt, pay for the baby. YOU PERSONALLY.

Or better yet, what I really think all pro-lifers should do is go down to the nearest neonatal unit and take one of the thousands of crack addicted, fetal alcohol syndrome, AIDS infected babies that are ALREADY HERE that no one wants.

You think the number of teenagers throwing their babies in toilets is bad now? Take away abortion. Coathangers will make a comeback, and more babies will be found in trash heaps.

Do I think abortion for birth control is a good thing? NO. But I’d prefer abortion to watching them dig newborn infants out of dumpsters and toilets.

Give people access to birth control. They give out Viagra- it’s covered by most medical plans INCLUDING MEDICAID. But Birth-control? NOPE. Educate teens – with the facts. The key to reducing abortion is education and funding. NOT YOU, YOUR PRO-LIFE BUDDIES, OR THE LAWS.

Do the research. Look at the statistics for countries where abortion is illegal. Women are dying. Abortions are still being performed, as they were here before 1973.

Good grief, I hate when anyone mentions abortion. Both sides act as if the other has no right to an opinion. This has to be the most irreconcilable public arguement in this country today. Unless you want a stream of hate posts from either side try to avoid the issue. It won’t be settled here and probably will not be settled ever. I have my opinion, but it’s mine and you can’t have it.

    Thanks, DDD.

It’s very easy for people who have never had to face a circumstance to condemn how another deals with it.

Nobody, your last sentence just made me laugh. “Mine! All Mine!” I pictured a kid with a favorite toy. I love a good laugh in the middle of a contentious debate.

Dawn, it’s also easy to say “mine” is the only opinion that matters and all other debate must be cut off. All I am saying is that there is no real answer in this debate since both sides are actually entitled to an opinion and there is no common ground.

I guess my biggest point is that yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion- but it’s like going to Burger King. You can have no onions if you like, but you can’t tell ME I can’t have them.

Opinions are no longer opinions if they are imposed on others.
