“How could a man with such a strong moral fiber err like this?” he wrote. “It was not in his moral and ethical fabric that this could be. He is a good man, an intrinsically honest lawyer, and a true friend who has made a mistake.”
The above quote concerns me. Dickie made “hundreds of millions of dollars” suing tobacco companies on behalf of sick smokers. How much do suppose each sick smoker received from this settlement? My guess is a couple of bucks. If his moral fiber was really as strong as this person says, he would have donated those hundreds of millions of dollars for cancer research.
What kind of jackass would recommend leniency for this idiot who bilked insurance companies out of millions of dollars and spit in the face of the legal system. Our court system is an embarassment and a joke. This only confirms the fact that there’s a double standard at play, and that nobody has the ball or integrity enforce serious consequeces on human garbage, even when they’re dead guilty.
Sore losers have a voice too. It still amazes me that these insurance company “professionals” that have lined their pockets with the blood and sweat of others would dare condemn another person when their nefarious actions would fill the oceans. And just so you’ll know, maybe you should ask the execs of your company if Scruggs ever acted as counsel for them. I’ll bet you’d be suprised.

5 years, the max under the plea agreement, and a $250,000 fine…

The guy’s a pig — hang-em!!!!!!
He owes my company, and my policyholders, a lot of money.
They should take Dickie & his “high profile friends” and put them in a boat & drown the b***ards!!!
Hang ’em high. Dickie’s legal costs will be more than the fine or any other “inconvenience” of sentencing.
