    Gill Fin:

If you read the entire thread you’d have seen that FL Agent acused PAs of causing the prolem with Citizens reopening of claims and tow cents agreed.

Answer this; why would an insurance company pay 50% to 300% more than they originally offered(average increase when a PA gets involved)? Do PAs have that much power that they can MAKE them pay more than a claim is worth? I don’t think so. When someone holds their fingers to the fire, they pay what they owe.

This is perfect proof that the Citizen bandwagon of a “cheaper rate” (not all but most) is a complete deception to the public by Florida’s government officials and perhaps even some agents who are simply looking to sell a policy…purchase a bond for $625 million…where will the money come from to pay for that?…yup, property taxes…so, get a lower rate on your HO and instead pay that difference to FL gov’t…yeah, good idea.

Unfortunately, the consumer doesn’t know this is how the “premium reduction” is deferred. So, the deception continues and the system never improves.

Citizens has taken its share of lumps, and rightfully so given everything I’ve heard & read. However, one only has to dig a bit deeper to see that the Public Adjusters are behind a majority of the re-opened claims. Their ads can be heard on the radio stations and newspapers in South Florida.

They are driving up the cost of insurance, and the department has done little if anything to control them.

Fla. Agent is right on point. Too bad no one else can see what is happening around the state. The recent legislative changes will not solve the problem.

Those darn PAs, how dare they reopen claims for insureds who were originally cheated by their good hands, good neighbor insurers who were on their side.

Average increase in reopened claims was between 50% and 300%. If they paid what they were suppose to up front, there would be no need for a PA. PAs have been in existence for almost as long as insurance companies. Go figure.

Oh yes, all insurance company adjusters are cheats and liars and the pa’s are noble, just like all attorneys. You must be one of those people in Florida who believe all of the anti insurance company garbage. You will really enjoy the service when Citizens is the only company to choose, for all lines.

Coming from an background of handling FL hurricane losses, the impact of PA’s in FL is detrimental to the stability of property insurance in FL. Contrary to PJ’s post about the cheating/dishonest insurance companies, MOST companies diligently settle claims. It is the PA’s and attorney’s that are causing MOST of the problems.

I thought the article was about policyholders being cheated by citizens insurance? What do good neighbor and good hands have to do with it? Just another cheap shot at the private industry?

Information for Glenn. The Florida legislature, in all of it’s wisdom, has made a law that forbids suing Citizens.
All conflicts have to go to arbitration. As we have found, the inexperianced adjusters that Citizens were using did short change their policyholders. Remember that the majority of these are Citizens claims that are being reopened.
