by saying State Farm “has consistently made billions of dollars in pure profit annually before, during and after Katrina.’ Billions of dollars of pure profit? Before, during and after Katrina? Can someone tell my why an elected official would continue to blather his ignorance about a topic for which it is so easy to get the correct information? Don’t his constituents deserve to hear the truth? More of this and Mississippi will find itself painted into the same corner as Florida – no good choices for consumers along with a bad choice for all, which is government insurance. What part of voluntary does Hood not get? And who here knows just how much of the Mississippi market State Farm owns? Why, I do. About 30%, far more than they ever should have. The 892 nonrenewals include seven State Farm agents.

‘State Farm recorded a net profit of $3.24 billion in 2005 on revenue of about $60 billion, down 39 percent from the $5.31 billion in net income for 2004.’
    That was nationwide.
