I am shocked, shocked I tell you that the fund was not adequate to the 2007 losses in the first place. We were to understand that the fund was actuarially sound! How can this be?
    The Florida insanity continues…

It is unfortunate that the good people of Florida do not understand that Charlie is really not looking out for their best interests when it comes to property insurance. They seem to be dazed by all that is going on and how he has implied that he has decreased rates when all the while each policyholder is paying for all the dumb mistakes.

Good Hands….just a clarification. The surcharge began in 2007. This is to cover losses from 2004 & 2005.

    This is great!!

Charlie freezes the rates with Citizens and we still get hit with their shortage(assessments)

Here is an idea – why don’t you charge Citizens policyholder

Please correct me if I’m wrong. I am paying a surcharge to my insurance company in case they don’t have enough money to pay me if I submit a claim. AND … we’ve been paying these surcharges since Hurricane Andrew which was in 1992 (17 yrs. ago!!) When does it stop? Sounds like I’m paying the insurance company to pay me which is my money in the first place!! HELP!!!

This is absurd to charge the insured in low risk zones to pay losses for those who enjoy the beach 24/7. Now they have extended it, this is political therefore can anyone identify a tax once inacted being rescinded? Charlie Crist is a very astute politician who works in backrooms to cut deals that brings favors for selected groups and/or himself. Now he is taking care of the elite who cry when they have to spend some of their sizable bank accounts to repair their beach home. Here he is asking those who can’t afford to live on the beach to subsidize those who can. Whatever happened to the user supporting his habits? Crist also cut a deal in the very last days prior to the last election to change support from Romney to McCain, just to please the RNC in return for future favors…like the senate in 2 years, and see what happened to the presidency. Now he wants to be our Senator……I DON’T THINK SO!
