Let’s re-write the legal code so defense attorneys are outlawed and defendants are “guilty until proven innocent” (kind of like our asset forfeiture laws already are!).

I’d much rather see big pharm prevented from advertising (anyone else sick of a 5 second commercial followed by 55 seconds of horrible sounding side effects??) than defense attorneys. Silly.

Yep, lets keep people accused of DUI from finding the most experienced defense attorneys. That’ll teach those drunk SOBs!

Or should we think about hiring competent prosecutors? Nah, that couldn’t be the problem…

DUI/DWI is a social problem that is unacceptable by any standard. Unlike other types of conventional crimes, it can impact innocent people with disastrous results. Trying to “get people off” a DUI/DWI charge on some technicality should be contrary to public policy. Adverstising your purported skill in undermining the legal system should be banned. It’s sending a message that’s it’s OK to act like an A-hole because I can help you escape responsibility……until the next time. Scumbags.

Probably not but if there was, I’d support it.

The good lawyer wants to know what else is legal that can’t advertise? Try this:

When was the last time you saw a television ad for cigarettes?

A television ad for a strip club?

Heard a radio ad or saw a television ad for medical marijuana (in the states where it’s legal)?

There is precedent for banning the advertising of certain legal activities – get over it.

On the more realistic side, the politicians need to start working on something more important than whether lawyers are advertising for scumbags.

Dread, you take the same old position on DUI. Do you think all 1.6m accused (MADD victims) of DUI are scumbag A holes?

I’m sure you think law enforcement never abuses their authority when making a DUI arrest.

One can only hope the precedent being set by MADD mothers turns on you. I’m sure we are moving in the direction that DUI will soon encompass too much caffeine.

Then morons like you that love MADD and believe their lies will wake up to slimy special interest groups.

I will never understand your position on this MADD LIES. I can understand not liking an organization that you believe is promoting total prohibition of alcohol; but you quite often come across as defending driving while under the influence (of whatever). I’m not for making alcohol illegal, but will be one of the first to say that driving while impaired should be illegal and people should face harsh punishment for doing it. That includes driving while drunk, stoned, taking sleeping pills, or while too tired to drive properly. Impaired driving is wrong.

So I guess I’m wondering – do you believe people have a right to drive drunk?
