Alabama Insurance Executive Indicted in Criminal Fraud Case

A 26-count indictment was returned against a Montgomery, Ala. insurance executive.

Louis Franklin, acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama, said a federal grand jury charged John W. Goff with mail fraud, embezzlement, conspiracy and making false statements to Alabama insurance regulators.

The indictment alleges Goff collected workers’ compensation insurance premiums for two insurance companies, but failed to pay the firms and others their share of the premiums.

Franklin, who announced the indictment Wednesday, said Goff is accused of spending the money to fund a lavish lifestyle.
