VA Clinics Cancel Appointments After Water Damages Computers

January 30, 2008

Water from a broken pipe has damaged computers that manage information for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs clinics in Tennessee and Kentucky.

The VA says patient information used by its Tennessee Valley Healthcare System has not been lost.

Officials are canceling routine appointments in primary care and specialty care clinics, surgeries and procedures scheduled for Tuesday.

Dialysis and chemotherapy clinic appointments have not been canceled.
VA officials say they will contact patients to reschedule their appointments once the computer system is repaired in the next day or two.

The cancellations affect some VA facilities in Nashville, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, Clarksville, Tullahoma, Cookeville and Dover in Tennessee and Fort Campbell and Bowling Green in Kentucky.
