$30 a square foot? What was the building made out of, ADOBE?

Of course, that assumes nothing of value inside the building was lost. That would drop the $/sqft even lower, so maybe the adobe wasnt even baked – it was just MUD.

We don’t know the age of the building, condition nor construction. This was a vacant former furniture mfg plant. It could have been steel frame with corrugated exterior skin for all we know – County Assessors office shows fair market value at $500,000 – in an economically depressed area you may get away with agreed amount – functionally obsolete buildings are hard to move (No indication as to the economic health of Sumner nor what industries have pulled out or gone belly up)

Even if you are talking about “insured” value – $900,000 at 80% coins brings it up to 1,125,000 – 37.50/100 sqft might not be that far off depending on all factors above.
