How the hell is this considered a “mining” accident? It’s a motor vehicle accident that has nothing to do with mining. The guy was a lousy driver who negligently drove his truck over the edge of a cliff. Give me a break.

It’s good to see that you remain your dear sweet cynical self. I agree it reads as a motor vehicle accident. However, it was job related. His job was transporting
coal. Coal is mined. Therefore it is a mining accident, I guess.
This determination allows the man’s unfortunate family to have a claim–
not to mention giving his untimely
death a little more dignity. I mean it
seems more dignified to me that he died of a “mining accident” than as you put it
oh so eloquently, “…a lousy driver who negligently drove his truck over the edge
of a cliff.”
