    Dread:
In legal parlance, overwhelming evidence is commonly known as “preponderance” of evidence. There are a lot of other questions to be answered, but it appears you are on the “right track”. My guess is that in the absence of any other evidence of another party being the culprit, this dude aint’t very smart.

I’m glad they are throwing the book at these losers. It most certainly endangers the lives of emergency services and the neighbors. In my town about 20 years ago some knucklehead torches his families warehouse for the insurance money. Four firefighters who were in the building thinking there may be homeless people trapped had the roof collapse on them. Best to put these kinds of thoughtless criminals away.

Let’s think about this…….but not for very long. The names themselves are an indicator as is the fact they are 24 years old, claim to be man and wife, but aren’t married. They were going to vacation for 3 weeks in WEST VIRGINIA?????
You can spend a week there in two days!!!!
Dalton seeks medical attention for “burns” the morning of the fire???????? A propane tank (with the valve open) is found in the house????????
They shouldn’t even waste taxpayer money on a trial. Guilty by reason of overwhelming evidence and gross stupidity. These are not the kind of people you want wandering around society and, lord forbid, reproducing.

Ok, I too think they are guilty. They still have a right to a fair trial.

They are Military, they were going to Virginia to visit family.
All which explains the three weeks they were going to spend there.

Mollie……..I’ll bet you still believe in the Easter Bunny. What about the burns on the guys hands that were treated at a local ER the day of the fire? What about the propane tank that was left open inside the house? And……who in their right mind would “vacation” in West Virginia for 3 weeks? If it looks like a rat, smells like a rat, and acts like a rat it’s a good bet it’s a RAT.

This does sound like it should be a nomination for an honorable mention for the Darwin awards. WV has more than its share of award winners but it does sound better to say they were visiting family for 3 weeks rather than vacationing. And it shows they were smart enough to have an explanation for why all of their prized possessions were out of the house. I wonder if they’d lost jobs (3 weeks is a long vacation for a 24 year old) or if they were in trouble with one of those creative mortgages. Hope we learn more on this one and glad they didn’t harm anyone.

Something is lacking in the moral fibre and up-bringing of these people. At age 24, where does anyone get off torching a house to escape individual responsibility?

    Alecia,
if you read my post of the third again you will see that I said I think they are GUILTY.
I have seen the house up close, THEY SET THE FIRE.
They still deserve a fair trial as stated by our laws.
Also if you have ever been in the military you will know that many of them vacation some where for three weeks just to spend that time with family.
Doesn’t matter where that family lives, Virginia or timbucktoo, it happens all the time.

They did not lose jobs, HE WAS & STILL IS MILITARY. Members of the Military get four weeks a year for vacation. They can take that all at once or over time during the year.

He was on vacation, not out of a job.
    She probably did not work.
I know one of the people whose house was damaged by this fire & I thank God no one was hurt by what they did.
