DuPont is just about the last name pulled out of the hat when speaking of “rogue” or “renegade” corporations. Granted they have liability for cleanup under SARA since the EPA goes after anyone who ever owned contaminated property that still has money left in their pockets. They are liable for clean-up. The rest is questionable given the details at hand.

This is an interesting story – I grew up in WV, across the Kanawha River from DuPont and Union Carbide plants that often had unimaginably bad smells and horrible smoke. Thinking back, we knew it was bad enough that they would someday pay.
