If you read the State Farm spin you would think they were actually pleased to settle “without costly and lengthly litigation”. But if they thought dragging this out was “in no one’s best interest” why didn’t they do the right thing right after the loss? I believe the answer is unless they have a trial facing them they will continue to try and avoid payment. And when they do pay they require an agreement of no disclosure. They want to keep their dirty little secrets and buy their way out. And they have the nerve to advertise as a good neighbor!

Agreed! It’s not like Katrina happened last month. I am shocked at how many families are still displaced after 2 years… not for nothing is this the good ole US of A, or a third world country?
State Farm as well as other larger insurance carriers should be ashamed!

Not all families are still displaced because of insurance companies. Many are still displaced because they failed to carry any insurance at all, and are waiting for someone to bail them out and rebuild.

can we say another case of BAD FAITH?!

state farm knew that hurricanes are a natural catastrophe and hiding the facts or changing them was not the way to go. they did not want to pay and lose money.

There is not coverage under the ISO home policy for natural disasters. The industry knows this. But now that this case has been tried in the court of public/uneducated opinion, yes, State Farm will pay. But at what cost? Now 50,000 homes that were once insured by State Farm will be non-renewed. It is these 50,000 homeowners that are the real losers & hurricane season isn’t over.

It never ceases to amaze me how the SF apolgists put their spin on things. PLEASE, WIND DAMAGE IS COVERED!!! Had SF paid some amount on wind on these losses, as they should have, they would have had 100% less problems, not to mention costs of less than 10% of what they have spent to date. However, they are SF and as usual, they think they can play by their own rules and the real world does not aply to them.

Adjusterjoe, was it a little windy or was it a HURRICANE? Please identify for me where a HURRICANE is a covered peril.

I shall be more than happy to indentify where hurricane is covered when you identify where wind is excluded on every policy ever written by SF in Mississippi.
