Well – just another way for the lawyers to justify their % of the take. Of course they could determine what portion was on the home itself – just look at the valuation. But then, the lawyers take their % and then the homeowner may be short – just the American LEGAL way.

Between the governments incompetence and the attorney/insured greed we all get to pay for a piece of the action. I guess we that properly inure our property are just ignorant fools.

Can’t you be happy for our neighbors that received compensation from their insurance companies & assistance from the government? Typical, did you not understand what you read? & Superjuster I guess you truly do not grasp the concept of insurance, as we are all in this together & we all pay for the damages or “piece of the action” as you referred to it, but the ones that do insure their property responsibly are not ignorant fools but are ready to face the future knowing that their losses are covered, & they do not have to worry if they will have to live in a shelter for months or years – living off the government because they failed to have coverage & expect someone else to pay for their way because they can still play the poor poor me pity card. I am just glad that some people that were affected by these storms were insured & that some have actually started their lives over & are no longer mooching off society, as the “ignorant fools” they played themselves as in the government services offices. I understand elderly & disabled — but what about these lazy couch potatoes that are still able to work, but choose not to because the taxpayers can give them a cut — their slice of welfare — they know who they are!!!!!

ME: I’m pleased to meet someone who still believes that “we’re all in this together”. Unfortuantely, that theory went the way of the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. While we may technically “all be in this together”, there will always be those who are merely along for the ride and don’t participate. Those are the people who rely on others to bail them out because they were too stupid or lazy to find a way to support themselves. “Self Reliance” shouldn’t be a foreign concept. It’s hard enough for responsible people to take care of themselves and their own families much less subsidize those who can’t. Try this. Next time you owe the federal government income taxes, tell them you’re unable to pay and see how much they’re willing to write off. We need to stop reinforcing and enabling dependency. Nobody in their right mind “writes off” a $150,000 grant. Since most of these people are unemployed, they should have to perform some type of government work to payback what they were GIVEN.
