GREAT NEWS – Hope it flies trough the State Senate with the same results. This may give the DOI Investigators some teeth to charge rate evaiders in North Carolina.

Maryland has the RIGHT fix = require an instate or Military license. Shifting proof and penalties to the retail insurance agents doesn\’t work. The agents can\’t accuse the potential insured of lying.

According to the last line of the article (\”Out-of-state motorists who seek the lower rates often come to North Carolina to register their car and get a driver\’s license, according to the Insurance Department.\”) many of these \”rate evaders\” carry a valid NC drivers license. I wonder how an insurance company is suppose to take \”reasonable steps\” to ensure the accuracy of the applicants data, when the DMV of NC can\’t do it?
