I will repost since my original post has disappeared. You sir are a moron and have no clue what you are talking about. Anyone who owns a house in FL must have homeowners insurance, but just because you have it does not mean you get the $$ or it is enough to cover the costs of losing EVERYTHING you own. There is so much more to it than that. The fact that we ARE still hearing about it 2-3 years later is that it is a real problem. Your comments are ludicrous and just hateful. Unless you have lived it you will never know.
Life is about making choices.
1. If you choose to live in FL, you better be prepared to get some type of hurricane damage.
2. If paying your cable TV bill and paying the internet access bill is more important than buying the proper homeowner coverage, then you get what you deserve.
3. FEMA should take the trailers away from them on the last day of the 18th month. That would get the wheels greased faster to get these folks back into their houses.
We are all tired of hearing about people that had hurricane damage TWO-THREE years ago! Tell them to get their act together and make better choices. No one is entitled to have everything…
Where the h*** are you coming from?! Obviously, you\’ve never had a condo assn make bad choices about the condo insurance cover, deductibles, carriers, etc. I know folks who own condos who STILL can\’t get back into their units because the roof is still off the bldg. The carrier went under, the condo assn went broke trying to pay for repairs while awaiting $$ from the state, the roofers and other contractors walked off the jobs b/c they couldn\’t get paid and the displaced folks are still living in temporary quarters – all NOT because of anything they had any control over. Not to mention that the assessments for the damage AND the new insurance are so high that others are considering walking away. You might want to think things through before you criticize others unless you\’ve walked in their shoes and know first-hand from whence you speak!
I totally agree with Liz & Curious. Hey Zeus – you have no clue to what your speaking of and it just goes to show the ignorance of people who like to mouth off before getting to know the entire situation.
Your written comments clearly show that it is very easy to blame SOMEONE else for your problems, instead of taking responsibility for one\’s own life. Where is the personal responsibility??? Why should everyone else have to pay for another\’s problem year, after year, after year?
No one begrudges some form of help to anyone who has a catastrophic event…but three years later…PLEASE.
Once you give it, it is very hard to take back. Look at the cost of welfare.
I bet everyone who posted a dissenting opinion probably complains DAILY that their taxes are to high also.
You reap what you sow.
You folks are the hypocrites that need to get a life!
I was a FL resident for over 20 years. My home was whacked by Frances & Jeanne. After waiting for many months for insurance reimbursement, I decided to make minor repairs and get the heck out of Dodge. I wish more people would leave the state, especially since global warming is putting the coastal areas right in harm\’s way. You can have FL , I\’m glad I left when I did !
Who am I blaming, the only person rambling on about blame is you. I don\’t have a single problem that I am blaming a soul for. I have a wonderful life, I had a good life in FL and was lucky that we weren\’t effected by the storms to the extent that some were, but what happened to a lot of people is almost unrecoverable and that is sad. I too got the heck out of Fl after living there my entire life. You assume that everyone is just sitting around waiting for someone else to come to the rescue. While some may feel that way, most do not. Once again you are clueless passing judgment on something you have no clue about.
No, Zeus probably has never lived in Fl – she/he is just bored and stiring up the pot. We who live in florida or any other coastal state know what we are in for. I myself do not complain. I have never asked for any assistance or handouts. I get my home hurricane ready and pray for the best. Just like any other person does in a state that has the potential for natural disasters.

See ya, wouldn\’t wanna be ya !!!
Hannah,
You are taking responsibility for your life. Probably you made a very good decision.
The other folks want to make that decision for you! They collectivly know best!

Just curious, where do you live? Have you ever lived in Florida?
