I haven\’t heard this term used in years. They\’re now called \”Other Structures,\” I believe. My mother, in the 60s, was explaining \”appurtenant structures\” to one of her insureds when he received his homeowners policy. After she explained what they were, he paused and finally said, \”I ain\’t got no appurtentants.\”

Just a little insurance humor. Or not.

One agent told me recently I wasn\’t \”negligible.\” Of course, he meant \”negligent.\” I thought that was rather rude.

Does it take a \”rocket scientist\” to determine that these appurtenant structures contribute to insurance claims?
A few days ago, a similar profound conclusion stated that continued construction of high cost, high rise buildings on beaches and barrier islands is continuing to affect insurance exposures in Florida. A lot of money is being thrown at the problem by legislators to \”study\” the situation. Still nothing is being done to correct it. We don\’t need studies and legislation. We need some results.

Ed, I was thinking the same thing myself. Just what we need, another study.

Ed: My thoughts exactly. Appears that the \”rocket scientists\” have taken over!!!
