Crist is supported by the typical Floridian who doesn\’t care if his children and grandchrildren will have to bear the huge assements in the future, as long as he doesn\’t have to pay it now. These people should be more comfortable in Cuba or Venezuela.

Typical Whiners??? PLEASE! GET INFORMED! Due to un-affordable insurance in Florida there are over 1 1/2 million HOMESTEADED homes without insurance here! How about instead of future assessments some of those multi-millionaires who stole off with our premiums give them back! What about CEO’s who get 8 million dollar bonuses? By the way…STEVE insurance companies made R-E-C-O-R-D profits through ALL the past hurricanes including Katrina! Not a little profit but RECORD profits. Maybe you should attend a shareholders meeting. Also if you aren’t aware of this any study done can be set, fixed, rigged to get the outcome that the tester would like it to have. (i.e.: Towers Perrin /Tillinghast) As for Mr. Humor, it IS a crisis when people can’t afford to keep their homes and have to take second mortgages to pay for insurance! Do you think it is fair for someone to pay $8700 a year to insure a 900sq foot home (NOT on the water)….please! I would be willing to make a bet that each of you “posters” is either someone who does not live here or is up to your eyeballs in insurance money! The insurance industry is raping Floridians and thank GOD for someone like Governor Crist who has the “Brass Ones” to stand up to them!

    President, HAC!

    1. He goes to Washington to make an appeal for federal catastrophy aid before the first hurricane hits.

    2. He expects the industry to build profits in other regions of the country to subsidize Florida property rates.

This man knows he\’s sitting on $433 billion of property exposure in a state whose entire budget is $72 billion.

The only dishonest ones here are the insurance companies! FYI Florida has had many more years of NO Hurricanes than Hurricanes!! I guess someone like Governor Crist will always be persecuted for helping those in need….let\’s hope you are never in need!

Floridians WILL pay their own way but will not stand for being raped by a greed-based industry!
P.S. I don\’t see anyone up north complaining about a national Flood plan that Florida pays MUCH more into than it takes out!! PLEASE!!

Ginny, did I miss your postings on behalf of the insurance industry when it posted a 400+% loss ratio in Florida the year Andrew hit?

Bill- I don\’t know where you get your figures, but after Andrew, Allstate and State Farm posted NATIONAL profits larger than ever before in their history. One way they buffalo the people and the OIR for rates is using \”PUP\” companies that are ZFlorida only, and make them able to post loses that are for Florida only, not thier national profit. Same as an earthquake hitting a particular state, it hardly affects the natioanl outcome. If they are losing so much, how can they afford to pay their CEO an 8.3 million dollar bonus!

Let me please remind you that a Hurricane is a National Catastrophy just as a Tornado is in the Mid-West, a Flood in the Northeast, and an Earthquake in the West. That being said maybe you should re-check your profits & losses as ALL the major insurers made….let me spell it out for you R-E-C-O-R-D profits even through Andrew, Opal, Charley, Frances, Jeanne, Wilma, AND Katrina!

Homeowners is an interesting line of business. Regulators restrict companies from recouping their losses on catastrophes by making them spread them over many years. As a result of this and other factors, homeowner insurers usually require multiple years of underwriting profit to offset individual terrible years. Most consumers (and one governor) don\’t think or care about these time horizons.
