These high risk pools effectively screen out people based upon cost. 175% more?? If they can\’t afford a policy, then they can\’t afford 175% more! If for eample, the \”standard\” policy for someone in their 50s is $500 a month, then the high risk pool wants $875 a month.
If one is seriously or chronically ill, then generally the illness interfers with working which means they have little or no income. How in the world are they supposed to pay those prices???
