Absolutely, these ladies deserve federal whistle blower protection. If State Farm was acting in bad faith, these ladies provided a valuable service.

Are we jumping to conclusions based on what you read in the newspapers or see on TV? Just maybe you dont know the full story. Who\’s to say the women are knowledgeable to interpret an insurance contract anyway.
I belive state farm said their best adverstisment is the great way they handle claims.. So ladies and gentlemen don\’t believe everything your read or watch on TV. You know, those baised, sensation seeking reporters? And no I don\’t work for State Farm and I am not insured with State Farm. But they deserve better treatment that dogs nipping at their heals.

Commrade Ken and MW thank you for your support. You are correct to bring down big corporate america the ends always justify the means. We must next attack this thing called the consititution if we are to ultimately bring the proliterate to their knees —long live the people and death to capitalism.

    Dear Communist,

Capitalism is a two-way street. If (and it reains an if) State Farm exercised bad faith or poor judgment, they deserved to be exposed. Democratic capitalism offers an economic system based on competition, under the law, to channel self-interest into the service of others, and to promote human creativity as the key to ending poverty. It is a political system containing constitutional checks and balances to protect the rights of the individual and to avoid the abuse of power. Underlying both the economic and political structures of our society, illuminating and guiding them, are our moral and cultural traditions, our rich Western inheritance from Greece and Rome, from Judaism and Christianity, from the Renaissance and modern humanism. The traditions that we have inherited, open and tolerant, have helped to form the ethical code stabilising the whole civic structure of our democratic way of life.

Who threatens the US Constitution and civil liberties more, State Farm exceutives or a couple of ladies who may have exposed wrongs?

The article states that the sisters \’secretly copied\’ the Renfroe claim adjustment documents and handed them to various interested parties. Why would Scruggs & the other parties accept evidence obtained in this fashion? Is accepting ill-gotten evidence legal? I am not an attorney and I may be naive, but it seems to me those purloined documents should be inadmissable in a court of law. While I understand that what SF did was wrong, there is something lacking in our judicial system if this is deemed an appropriate way to gather evidence. Stealing renders the sisters guilty of a crime and taints the process. No? State Farm is now paying for their illegal activities and so should the sisters.

Richard Scruggs should be dis-barred and charged with contempt and fraud. Every suit he filed using the stolen documents should be immediately dismissed. If his brother-in-law the senator had an ounce of decency he\’d condemn his actions and conduct. Don\’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen. I\’ll take bets our judicial system does nothing to penalize this this scumbag. He\’ll continue to be regarded as a \”prominent attorney\” in the backwoods of Mississippi.

I reread the article & all I can find as a reason to charge penalties against the sisters is that they did not return the documents as ordered by the judge. That they secretly copied the documents and took them to an attorney rather than notify their own employer to begin with smacks of criminal activity on it\’s own. State Farm has a lot of answering to do, indeed, but the way it was brought to light was a bit shaky, too.

For one thing, those documents are not to be distributed to anyone because they may very well contain confidential information about policyholders, including names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and social security numbers. As an agent I know if I made any of that information available to someone outside my company I would be in a heap of trouble. As agents, independent contractors, of State Farm these women have signed agreements specifically stating they would NOT do what they did. Sorry, but this smells of
Scruggs picking up the scent of State Farm\’s deep pockets and \’going for the green\’. Lastly, I\’m one who is patient enough to wait and see what really happened down there. To those of you who want to jump on State Farm at any suggestion of malfeasance, I hope you are never presupposed of guilt before your position is presented. There remains a reason why State Farm is at the top of the heap for claims satisfaction. Odd, that doesnt jive with what the State Farm haters spew endlessly. Wonder why you hate them so much?
