\”Mississippi lawmakers have agreed upon a plan to use $20 million in premium taxes on policies statewide to help lower premiums for property owners in high-risk areas who are insured by the state\’s wind pool.\”
Sounds like a democrat had this great idea!
What are the poor folks in the low risk areas of the state going to get out of this? Higher Premiums?
What do the others get from this – how about tax revenues from the coast that benefit the ENTIRE state – not just the coast. Without the coast – the rest the state would hurt.
This idea is fine as long as you have enough admitted carriers. In the current climate, I forsee up to 50% of the admitted carriers leaving. To the guy who asked what do the people not living on the coast get. An alternative to this plan would be to let the coast keep all the casino taxes, and form their own wind pool. That way no one not on the coast would receive any casino tax benefit. The coast would love that.
