I\’d hate to do business in FL.

Soon, the only insurers there will be excess & surplus lines

As someone \”in the trenches\” I\’d say that for most commercial risks, E&S is just about all that is left, at least here in the coastal panhandle. I have actually encouraged several of my carriers to form or buy E&S carriers to gain some flexibility so that we will continue to at least have *some* kind of wind market in the state.

We\’re still pretty early in what I think will be a long ride. My clients are in big, big trouble, and every time the legislature meets or Crist gets some time in front of a camera, it just keeps going downhill.

At some point, this will hit bottom and politicians will have to get out of the hole and quit digging. The question, though, is how many insurance customers will be driven over the cliff while the politicos are busy mugging for the cameras, telling us all what a great job they\’re doing?

When I found out that Crist refused even to meet with the CEO of State Farm, I knew that the real fun was just beginning. Hey, Louisiana and Mississippi, take a good hard look. We\’re a great example of what not to do from a regulatory and legislative standpoint.

Cliff you are correct E&S is on the for front based on the current Political agenda. FL Agent, you nailed it. Christ will not talk to any insurance co. not even when former Montana Gov. Marc Racicot came to Tallahassee with the \”former Gov. buddy relationship\”. Marc is now an executive/employed by an insurance company Per my sources.

Yeah apparently Charlie Crist took everyone\’s money in the campaign, and is now telling them to basically talk to the hand! He apparently wont talk to anyone anywhere, no matter what the relationship… so it seems to me \”How can you fix something if you dont know What it is that is wrong, or What it is that needs to be done… basically with no experience how can you attempt to do anything and be successful at it?\”
Seems RIDICULOUS to me…. a lot of chaos and no results!
But they are getting paid, even if the agents are getting screamed out day in day out, and our salaries are going down… tell me why we are here? Because we love our clients, that\’s why!

Some people want the warm winters in FL but don\’t want to pay the consequences of what comes with a warm Gulf of Mexico.
If you live on the edge of a volcano, it is unreasonable not to expect to pay A LOT more for home insurance.

I just received a call from my Father in Miami Lakes last night telling me how much his homeowner\’s insurance increased. HE CAN\’T FIGURE OUT WHERE HE IS GOING TO GET THE EXTRA MONEY TO PAY HIS BILL!! His premium jumped from $2600 to $4700 (one small claim in 10 years) That\’s an extra $175 a month he can\’t afford! There are so many people suffering and losing their homes!!! SHAME ON ALL POLITICIANS IN FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE NEEDS TO STAND UP AND HELP YOUR PEOPLE AND QUIT WASTING TIME!!!!!!

While I feel bad for your father whose homeowner\’s rates have gone up, you are directing your anger to the wrong place. It is not the governments place to save people in a free market society. Your father chose to live in a high risk zone prone to hurricanes and now that those hurricanes have happened, the insurance companies are only charging what they need to charge to keep from going bankrupt. Government regulation on rates is only going to make the matter worse. Quit relying on the Government for bailouts. We have become a society built on entitlements and it is getting worse by the day. Burglars and Robbers actually don\’t think they are doing anything wrong when the rob some one that has something they don\’t! All I can say is quit whining and pony up the money for your dad or have him come live with you.

I DESPISE politicians. They are all crooks on both sides of the political spectrum. I am just a servant to the people who need insurance. But I am conservative, but I tend to affiliate with Libertarians.

Compman you rock. Glad someone is out there telling it like it is (the truth) and not afriad of the PC b.s. that pervades all conversations. Like the old saying goes, you can\’t handle the heat then get out of the kitchen (directed to GA gurl)
