Most people don\’t have to worry about a Picasso and whether it\’s scheduled. They need to document what sort of TV, stereo, computer, tools, etc. they have in the house. Had a guy come to me for renter\’s insurance recently, suggested he was thinking too low at $25,000 contents. When he inventoried, he found he had more than that just in his stereo and CD collection alone. (Could excessive consumerism also be why he was in a low-rent apartment on an engineer\’s salary?)

And maybe a great thing to bring in to your agent when you complete it. Then the agent can look to see if you need more jewelry coverage, look at possible business property that would need an endorsement, etc. Great product, but people could do the same thing with a simple list by room on their computer or there is a home inventory program on Quicken as well that can do that.

If the gimic makes people do it, more power to them. this kind of thing would make those losses far easier to adjust. Of course, I have worked for some companies who would take one look at the complete inventory and want to call a fraud investigator…

At least these people, who were frustrated by their own stupidity, actually turned this into something constructive instead of getting an attorney and suing their carrier for $20M for bad faith. Nice to know there are some good people out there.
