More proof positive of what happens when an industry sector becomes not only politically governed, but also too heavily regulated. With the FL cabinet, legislature and Governor\’s office mandating how a business is suppose to manage their business, they have inadvertantly provided a dis-service to the citizens of the state of FL, not a service.
I have to agree with the companies pulling out of these states – should the entire company go bankrupt because of stupid court decisions like those made in Louisana and Mississippi? How many folks in the other states want to see their premiums increased to subsidize those who choose to live in areas where natural disasters occur on a regular basis. It frustates me everytime I hear about the Californians who rebuild on the side of the mountain after the mudslides and the East Coasters who rebuild on the ocean. Truthfully, if they had to suffer the lose themselves, would they rebuild??
\”Formerly Texas’ insurance commissioner, Mr. Hunter arrived in Tallahassee Wednesday to begin work to determine rate reductions that are required to be adopted by all Florida residential property insurers.\”
This came out of the National Underwriter.
Figure this will be close to the last straw… I feel sorry for my inlaws in Florida, but can\’t see where we\’ll be hanging around in that state for much longer.
The prblem with the money hungery companies is they are the one\’s that mandated insurance throughout the country and now that they can\’t just sit back and reap profits and they have to pay for their contracts of utmoast good faith they no longer like the idea.
Crist should be commended for standing up to these large companies but there is always an reaction to an action.
Floridians hand in there Christ started this he will resolve it!

When the \”money hungry\” companies start refusing to do business in your area, you may want to reconsider just how smart you are.
Good luck Floridians.
Yipes….Charlie Crist sounds like Karl Marx on this issue. Does it make sense at all to anyone?
i hope they pull out of mississippi also.
The only people this makes sense to are those who think the government should always be there to bail them out. Even when they made the mistake.
Good luck with that \”Citizens\” insurance. I smell state bankruptcy…

Charlie does not think the insurance industry should use the court system, I am sure he and Hitler could agree on a lot of things

Another Standard market company gone. All of our insuance problems will be solved by bankrupt Citizens Ins. Corp. after they take rated reductions.
