I was listening to a program on National Public Radio where a former Insurance Comm. from Texas was discussing Florida after the Hurricanes. I believe I heard, from one of the people speaking, that Allstate had non-renewed a total of 195,000 Homeowners since the storms. 95,000 in one year and 100,000 in another. Does anyone know if these figures are correct? If so, where would one go to find this type of information on companies? thanks. Ron
i think he was talking about gulf coast more specificially texas and louisiana. that number seem to jive with my memory. our local paper the beaumont enterprise, has losts of stories in august and september about it. the number is so high becuase the not writing frame houses,in tier 2 counties. which means non-coastal.
It\’s not just frame houses they\’re dropping. I live in a 2005 mobile home and have had a mobilehome owners policy with Allstate, claim free, for 16 years and just received my notice of non-renewal. I am sick of hearing how Allstate claims they need to raise rates again. What about the money in premiums they\’re losing from the 120,000+ homeowners they dropped this year alone? So much for being in \”good hands.\” I say \”thank you\” to Kevin McCarty for making Allstate lower the amount of increase requested. How can they justify dropping so many policies and then claim the need to raise rates for the remaining homeowners?
