Note to Charlie: Florida already mandates that insurers give rate reductions to homeowners that harden their homes. Worse yet, Toni Jennings reform committee recommended that the range of such credits be reduced so that it would be easier for consumers to understand. Any want to take the bet that Charlie and the legislature make things a lot worse by creating all sorts of new unfunded mandates on insurers? I\’m giving 3 to 1 odds that the state\’s over-regulated market gets worse, not better, over the next two years.

Why would any one be allowed to opt out of the one coverage that has caused the largest losses in recent history. Wind should not be an option. Are we going to get into a situation where I have to have wind because I have a loan but my neighbor does not have to pay for wind because his uncle left him a ton of money to pay off his mortgage. Will legislation require banks to accept no wind homeowners coverage? What agent would allow a customer to exclude it what happens when the next storm hits and the clients say \” I did not know it did not cover hurricane damage, I would have never bought it, My agent did not tell me\” I\’ll tell you what will happen, the next round of bottom feeding attorneys will get rich filing E&O claims. Crist it is time that you wised up and realized that consumers are fed up with cost not coverages,If you allow companies to start chopping coverages it will only drive up cost more, consumers need to be protected even if they don\’t want to pay for it.

its really a Great problem that Florida homeowners have seen their rates triple in the last few years. so i hope, its really good one that Government has elected crist to find solution for the home owners insurance cost for the welfare of Florida home owners and government.
