I was one of those residents flooded by hurricane floyd in 1999,my family and i lost everything! We would have lost our lives if it had not been for our 1 year old son at that time. I can’t begin to tell you how it affects us to this day trying to erase memories of losing everything, not having a place to stay and given the run around when questions were asked. I never want to experience anything like that again in my life! I truly feel the city of Newport News was careless and they put innocent peoples lives in danger. They should be held responsible and compensate everyone who was affected by the flood in that area in 1999. We did not ask to be homeless and lose everything. They still have all their memories and poesseions while myself along with others are trying to regain that back.
