lawyers taking over 1/2 of the settlement proceeds from clients!!! what a travesty!! this shows they are out of control! I think the actual settlement is fair, as the drug companies are profiteering rapists. The lawyers should not be getting 105 million out of this.. what crap. ONLY IN AMERICA!

Another shining example of the need for Tort Reform (and the screwed up mess of the American Justice System).

The best place to initiate tort reform is to cap lawyer\’s fees, not necessarily punitive damages. Capping legal fees at far lower than 33% (typical PI/BI contingency fee), at 15% or even just 10% whenever judgments exceed certain values – different limits for different types of litigation might reduce the abuse of settlements, fees, and the filing of lawsuits. In every other industry, the economies of scale reduce the charges or fees involved. Why not big settlements?

You call the drug companies profiteering rapists? After reading this article it only confirms my belief that the \”true profiteering rapists\” are lawyers.

The $20 million was put into the Ky Fund for Healthy living. The lawyers of the case, or three of the lawyers, and the judge were heads of the Fund. They paid themselves very nicely for their position there. Out of the $200,000,000 originally awarded, the lawyers fees would have been $60,000,000. They weren\’t happy with that amount, and became even more greedy. They did not tell their clients about the amount of money that was being put in their charity fund, and it is rumored that they told some of them, but it was insinuated that it was a miniscule amount that was left over. These lawyers ripped off their clients in a very bad way.
