I, as a Travel Consultant, on a number of occasions sold my clients travel insurance through Trip Assured as they were one of the companies suggested by my host agency. However there were a few occasions that my clients had genuine, legitimate claims, but when we went back to Trip Assured to put in a claim, they found excuses each and every time not to pay. On one occasion I threatened them with legal action and they then sent a claim form for my cleints to complete. However, I had managed to satisfy my clients problems with the airline, who turned out to be most obliging, otherwise my clients would have sued Trip Assured. I am sorry now, that it didn\’t get to that point at that time. They should have absolutely no right to sell insurance. They are disgusting and Mr. Johnson, himself, was so rude to me persolnally, that I had wished I had been able to sue him myself. I did inform my principals of their shady work ethic and none of the agents in our agency used their services again. I sincerely hope they are put out of business!!!

This company is the pond scum of travel protection agents. Please inform anyone that you know of their dealings. You don\’t even have to bad mouth the company. Just tell them to search the term, \”Trip Assured\” on google or yahoo. If, after they do this, they still decide to place their faith in Mr. Johnson\’s bogus company, they must have the mental acuity of a carrot!

I cannot believe people are still selling this fraudulent product. The company\’s owner, Mr. Johnson is a scam artist and never has any intention of reimbursing clients for interrupting or cancelling their trips. I have been in the travel business for two decades and I have not met a single client who received a reimbursement for cancelling a trip without having to go through litigation. Most who fight this in court receive uncollectible judgments. Someone wrote that the owner was pond scum – that\’s a bit too nice to describe him. STAY AWAY FROM TRIP ASSURED!

It\’s probably not to late to file a complaint with your own state\’s Insurance Department, the Tennesse Ins. Dept., Knoxville Better Business Bureau, the U. S. Attorney in Nashville, and anyplace else you can think of. The more the better! I am a retired insurance examiner from the State of Michigan.

    Joyce:
What state do you live in, and when did you get taken by Mr. Johnson? I might be able to supply you with some info to at least maximize the chance that he won\’t continue doing this to people. If you provide an email adress, I can correspond directly with you.

UNAUTHORIZED TRAVEL PROTECTION ENTITY ORDERED TO CEASE BUSINESS IN
    FLORIDA

TALLAHASSEE (9/13/2006) – Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin
McCarty has ordered Trip Assured, Inc. (Trip Assured) and its president
Edward M. Johnson to immediately cease all insurance-related activities
in Florida. Trip Assured, based in Crossville, Tennessee, has been
selling travel insurance in multiple states, including Florida, without
    a license.

Trip Assured developed, marketed and sold trip cancellation
insurance to Floridians through travel agents, cruise associations and
direct to consumers from its internet website. The trip cancellation
product Trip Assured marketed was not underwritten by an authorized
    insurer.

\”While we have had great success at tracking down and
stopping unauthorized entities from transacting insurance in the state,
this action proves that we have to remain vigilant,\” said McCarty.
\”Floridians need to make sure any insurance company, agent or salesman
is authorized, as these unlicensed entities and products put them at
    risk of grave financial harm.\”

To check on the license status of a company or agent,
consumers should visit http://www.fldfs.com, and click on Verify Before You
Buy, or call the Department of Financial Services\’ Helpline at
