It would appear to me that people are doing the right things for the wrong reasons. People are forgetting the purpose of wind resistive construction is to mitigate future losses. You\’ve spent a few extra dollars to help ensure when a hurricane does hit that you still have a home to go back to.
Receiving a larger discount on insurance premiums should be an added bonus, not the primary reason for protecting property.
Couldn\’t agree with you more – I was thinking the same thing while I was reading it. Get the better shutters because it\’s going to protect your home – not because you\’ll get a discount on your homeowners policy.
