\”Morial…said no natural disaster should be treated as an opportunity\”.

While I think I understand what he\’s trying to say here, he should phrase things much more carefully. How else should you treat it but as an opportunity to learn what went wrong and how to prevent it from happening again in the future. Those that don\’t learn from the past…well, you all know the saying.

\”We rebuild in every other part of this world,\’\’ he said. \”The question is, can we rebuild our own?\”

I think the better question is \”should\” we rebuild our own. Building a city in a bowl below sea level on the coast in an area prone to hurricane activity… hmmm…not the brightest idea I could think of. How many times will we have to watch (and pay for) this area inundated by water before we learn?

\”Congress has provided more than $68 billion in relief to the Gulf Coast\”

    Homeowners Insurance 1,200
    Flood Insurance 1,200

Not knowing where $68,000,000,000.00 has gone and wanting more — Priceless.

\”Katrina was a metaphor for abandoned urban America,\’\’ Jesse bloviated. \”When you have people who are unemployed and unskilled, they have no incentive to rebuild.\”

Maybe the lack of incentive preceded their unemployed and unskilled status. The fact that the Al & Jesse show gets any ink at all is a sad commentary on how far we need to go toward rebuilding, not Katrina, but America.

ABSOLUTELY! This entitlement culture rules the day again by demanding MORE money from the hands of STRANGERS (taxpayers) through FORCE because of THEIR OWN PERSONAL IRRESPONSIBILITY. This is what INSURANCE is for!!! The government isn\’t an insurance agency. Furthermore, this isn\’t a NATIONAL issue. This is a STATE AND CITY issue. It\’s hysterical to see these Democratic plantation slaves continue to demand things from the President, but they remain \”tight-lipped\” when it comes to demanding ANYTHING from (New Orleans Mayor) Ray Nagin or (Louisiana Governor) Kathleen Blanco. Oh, I forgot–they are Democrats, i.e., PERFECT, and can do NO wrong.
