the Board overwhelmingly rejected strengthening the code in the panhandle. So they can continue to construct out of cardboard and we pay for it through additional assessments to support Citizen\’s, which is where all that property will be insured.
In the rest of Florida, even on shoddily constructed buildings or dwellings if over 25% of the roof is damaged, if over 50% of the building is damaged, if the screened enclosure is damaged, etc., etc., then repairs must be done to the new code.
Not in the panhandle, they can rebuild and repair to the same crummy codes as before.
NO company should inusure anyone on the Florida Building Commission and any builder who supports such an outrageous decision. Let them come back on their hands and knees begging for coverage.
I predict massive non-renewals for this part of the state and CPIC will get them all. And then, the rest of Floridians will pay for it through assessmnents.
The builders and their associations should be ashamed of themselves for such selfishness!!!
