What a concept. Force the insurance customer to finance a reinsurance fund to reinsure the insurance he buys. Few people choose insurance stocks as an investment but now forcing the choice is ok.
I say hands off. If people decide to build on the coast, let them pay for insurance. The problem is the real cost of insurance will take a bite out of the value of real estate. I say let it happen. Why should we subsidize the market value of oastal customers? The marketplace has finally forced new construction to meet the threat of hurricane forces, why didn\’t this happen years ago?
What planet does CFO Tom Gallagher live
on? Passing on a savings of $400-$500 per
policy – what the heck is he talking about?
I\’m having trouble just getting insurance.
My wife and I purchased our MFGD home
in 2001. We paid $499.00 for insurance at
that time. We are now looking at quotes in
the $2,000-3,000 range for less coverage.
I went on line to try and obtain ins.
I end up with Netquote who then feeds all
the info. to potential insurers. Recently
I contact Allstate. I think that Allstate
is going to write our policy – not so –
we end up with Citizens. Some type of State
run or subsidized ins. company in FL.
Rather than develop a plan to help the
insurance companies why don\’t you develop
a plan to help all the \”little people\” like
us and our neighbors?
Our complex has been here for over 20
years with no major claims and no catastrophes. Why are we having so much
trouble obtaining insurance with fair and
adequate coverage that is reasonably priced? It\’s difficult to do this when you
have a closed market – only one basic
carrier.
I\’ll be looking for a response from
either Mr. Gallagher, Mr. Crist or Mr. Bush
real soon on what insurance company I can
contact that will provide the coverage, cost and insurance discussed in this article.
Perhaps there is a reason that the majority of the people in the world who live on a beach do so in a thatched hut. They don\’t spend much money on their hut. When it washes away they have not lost much.
