With comments like that, this AG should either be recalled or fired by the govenor. Completely irresponsible.

What a surprise, a democrat attacking an ins co AND comparing his \”adversary\” to Nazis. We\’ve been down this road so many times. Where is Mr. Hood\’s \”tolerance?\” Does Mr. Hood have the minutes from the secret meeting of carriers that must have taken place to plan this? Oh, I know-they didn\’t need to have a meeting since everyone knows it is every ins. carrier\’s mission to rip off their customer. As a former adjuster and risk mgr I\’ve always found that the people with the worst cases always yell the loudest.

When your head\’s up your butt it\’s not a good idea to open your mouth so wide.

    A bigger shock is market conduct reality proof industry insiders / contractors have from \”adjusters\”, that show\’s exactly how some insurers are intentionally and deceptively underpaying claims;

Too, highly knowledgable and experienced catastrophe adjusters DO KNOW about Allstate claim settlement conduct.

Consider the following testimony (from a catastrophe adjusters site) by an ex- Allstate claim management insider that seems to clearly indicate that Allstate has \’conspired\’ to underpay claims in Texas…and loves our money.

I just recieved my adjusters liscence, from The Great State of Texas. I have 22 years in construction (framing, roofing, sales & concrete). I am an excellent estimator, and can build anything from a dawg house to a church.

I am having a hard time finding a job in the adjusting field. I know what my angle is now. Imagine having an adjusters liscence, and being a contractor. I am calling Allstate tommorow. You have to change with the times.

    Brooks,

I would not advise calling Allstate if you wish to keep your integrity intact.

After almost 7 years with them and having held a variety of positions, including the sole Quality Evaluator for the entire southern half of Texas, I finally became fed up with their approach to requiring every adjuster to KNOWINGLY underpay every claim and left them this past July.

The head of Allstate in Texas – Gary Briggs – had the nerve to stand up in front of an agent\’s meeting last spring and say (QUOTE) \”I love the new HOA+ policy! It doesn\’t cover anything and WE STILL GET TO KEEP THEIR MONEY!\”

I used to tell people whose claim I was handling that \”the good hands of Allstate were right here\” as I held my hands out for them. I could no longer do that in good faith and look myself in the mirror so I left.

One of these days the Texas DOI is going to catch up with their property handling practices and then it will all hit the fan!

    Good luck with anyone else!

Obviously underpaying claims will help improve a company\’s loss ratio factor desired by them. (Premium dollars collected minus under-assessing property damage and undisclosed construction procedures, and underpaying claim values = the potential for higher year-end contingent profits.

All accomplished right under (most of)their trusting clients noses…

    Roger,

Get a life. We are all tired of hearing about your beef with Allstate. Maybe go talk with your priest.

Back on subject. The AG should be HAPPY that the insurance companies are not paying. If the insurance companies are forced to pay, guess what, the rates for these territories would be astronomic. Nobody would be able to afford the insurance. But, by having the Feds bail them out, the whole cost is distributed among all 50 states. But the AG has his head so far up his butt, he can\’t realize a gift horse when he sees it. What a maroon!

Why has it taken the State of Mississippi so long to get the Federal Flood Loan program off the ground? I\’ll bet that more legitimate insurance claims have been settled than flood damage loans granted.

Roger, if you\’re going to use Allstate as an example of every carrier\’s behavior it\’s a bad one. Yes I agree Allstate has a terrible claims record. I once had an insured who was rear-ended by an Allstate ins\’d and they reduced their settlement because our insured \”stopped suddenly.\” Where is that in the law? Why do you think there\’s a website called http://www.allstatesucks.com? However, just like in ANY business, the acts of one or even a few bad apples do not make a bad industry. I could say that because one idiot posts a dumb response to an article that all responders are idiots, but that would be a false conclusion as the later posts to this article prove.

Define object- anything of sense including feel, taste, hear, smell, and see.
What is storm surge- the primary cause of a storm surge is wind pushing against the oceans surface.
Allstates policy states \”We cover an insured loss, or any object (s) driven by a windstorm. At the top of this hurricane deductible endorsement it says \”This changes your original policy please read carefully\” If you read \”we cover an insured loss, or any object driven by a windstorm. Can you see water, can you taste water, can you feel water, can you hear water, can you smell water. Case made.

    Dear Dennis and Others,

If you will keep an open mind, then we will gain some ground…

Allstate and State Farm have stated to untold thousands of Hurricane Rita victim claimants that the hours upon hours of abrasive action that windborne debris, that ground away the granule component on fibergalss shingles, sometimes down to the fiberglass mat, is not wind damage to shingles.

They have also stated to claimants that wind lifted / debris contaminated tar sealant bonds, which action will not allow shingles to rebond, is not damage to shingles.

Both damage assessments are not true, and they are leaving their trusting clients structures, and persoanl welfare, vulnerable to further weather damage loss.

Other insurers realize obvious wind damage, and \”adjust\” claims accordingly.

    rogerpoegc@yahoo.com

P.S. Shingle manufacturers engineers agree as to what is truly shingle damage that needs repairing, or replacing.

So far, ZERO documentation from Allstate / State Farm engineers has been produced by them, to their clients, that supports their engineers position that (ELK / GAF) shingle manufacturers are wrong.

Common sense also won\’t support such arbitrary damage-is-not-damage doublespeak.

    Dear CTC,

Where exactly have I said the whole industry is mistreating their clients?
    5-3-2006

    Please review my commentary carefully.

    rogerpoegc@yahoo.com

P.S. Accurate, and enough claim files reflecting consistent market conduct by Allstate / State Farm, does not give a false impression.

\”We cover an insured loss, or any
    object(s) driven by a windstorm.\”

    1. Could be they mean any occupied vehicle driven by/on the outskirts of a windstorm?

    2. Could be they mean the vehicle would have to be driven by the windstorm itself.
No third party drivers would be covered.

    3. Could be we alone see what we read.

    4. Could be we alone do not see what others have written to be seen.

    5. Could be others see and read what they alone have written.
