AIA Calls Georgia Supreme Court Decision a Blow to Tort Reform

    The bill provides \”a nonresident defendant can ask that a case be transferred to the defendant\’s resident county if that is where the alleged act occurred.\”

    If the patient traveled to that location for surgical intervention and the surgery is the basis for the medical malpractice case then that is where the alleged tort occurred. Other than venue shopping by a plaintiff attorney why would there be a preference?
