This is absurd. Way to send a message that you do not need to buy insurance. Just wait for the government to spend tax dollars and bail you out. They should not rebuild in Cat prone areas no matter what \”sticter codes\” are being implemented.

I\’m a California Bay Area resident. Guess this means I can drop my Quake insurance.

…and I will drop my wildfire insurance since I live in a fire hazard area. This is totally ridiculous. Now I have to pay for all of these \”poor\” people who live on the beach? Give me a break. Why buy insurance when the government will just step in and pay for the losses anyway.

Please note that grants will not be offered to those who lived in areas Natinal Flood had designated as flood zone. Only those who lived in areas that were not designated as flood zones by National Flood will be eligible. Some have the opinion that the National Flood program bears some responsibility for not recognizing the potential of storm surge in these areas.
