Cathy Cox, the Georgia Secretary of State, can be credited with this program. She fought (then) Governor Roy Barnes to implement this program by advising him the state of Georgia would lose federal highway funding if it wasn\’t implemented. That was a risky position to take as she had been mentored by Barnes. She is now a candidate for Governor. The Revenue Department may take credit for her efforts but she reveals her leadership potential by never caring who receives the credit. Her reward is simply in the doing…I respect that about her.
With all due respect, if the approximated percentage of uninsured motorists was 22% in 2003 prior to the use of a computer system, the real percentage was probably significantly higher.
I wonder what the real number of uninsured motorists is now.
