Rates are up and commissions are down. Where the hell is the money going?

Charge what Poe Financial charges, perhaps they are actuarily sound rates.

Kickbacks and payoff during an election year spell disaster for all Floridians.

Those money-grubbing, profit-seeking, consumer-ignoring Insurance executives! What do they think they\’re doing!

I shouldn\’t have to pay for any extra risk the insurance company has to take on! I demand cheap premiums! I demand Ralph Nader to look into the way I\’m being cheated out of my livelihood!

If I want to live on the coast, I shouldn\’t have to pay extra!

Maybe I\’ll just cancel my insurance – FEMA will take care of me.

As I tell my mother who lives in a mobile home in Fort Myers \” You live in a beer can, on a sand bar, surrounded on 3 sides by water. On occasion, mother nature wants to reclaim that sandbar\”.
Yes rates are expensive, but they need to be actuarily sound. I pay heavy Comprehensive Premiums on my Personal Auto policy because of too many deer in upstate NY.

It is unfortunate that the insurance consumer doesn\’t understand how rate systems work. Anyone with insurance premiums help to pay claims for others as well as themselves. (Law of large numbers) Your rate is based upon risk and those who live in coastal areas risk much more than those inland. Therefore, their rates should be much higher-they are more likely to file a claim due to weather than those inland

The people working for Citizens are no Insurance company executives, they are government employees or appointees of political hacks. People just don\’t get it, Citizens is not a real insurance company. I know people think that insurance companies are ripping people off for Wind coverage in Florida, but if it was a rip off, why wouldn\’t \”real companies\” like Hartford, St Paul, etc. want to write more business in Florida?

I am still shocked that Citizen\’s can get away with these low increases. The premiums need to be at least twice as high as granted. Ten more years of 4-12 storms hitting land may make residents understand the problem… 850,000 homes generating $5 billion in claims plus expense puts the average cost over $6000 per home.

The State Official that dreamed up this market of last resort should be made to pay, and then lynched.

Yes, the \”beautiful dreamer\” that started Citizens (as the RPCJUA) was none other than Tom Gallagher, Florida\’s current CFO. Can you say \”run for governor\”? I\’ll be shocked if these needed increases are approved anytime soon! Certainly not before the next election……
