Mobile Response Units Readied As Citizens Prepares for Hurricane Wilma

With Hurricane Wilma threatening to strike Florida, Citizens Property Insurance Corp. is preparing to handle possible resulting claims. The state’s insurer of last resort is also readying its mobile response units to br deployed and placing teams of adjusters on standby.

“We are prepared to deal with this major hurricane,” Bob Ricker, Citizens’ executive director said. “If damage results from this storm, we will be going into affected areas as quickly as possible to begin the recovery process.”

Citizens officials are advising policyholders to: Follow instructions from local emergency management personnel; document home contents and personal belongings; and safeguard policy documents. It’s important to note policy numbers and agent contact information.

Citizens policyholders sustaining property damage due to Hurricane Wilma, should call Citizens’ toll-free claims reporting hotline 1-866-411-CPIC (2742).

Adjusters will respond to claims as soon as possible. Policyholders should make temporary repairs as necessary to protect properties from further loss and keep receipts for reimbursement.

Ricker also reassured consumers that Citizens remains financially able to pay claims stemming from a possible impact by Wilma.
